Personal papers of the inter-related Hubbard and Greene families of Boston, and Essequibo, Guyana. Contains correspondence between Gardiner Greene (a Boston merchant) and his brother-in-law John Hubbard, 1787-1831, his father-in-law Daniel Hubbard, 1789-1793, his mother-in-law Mary Hubbard, 1791-1807, and his friend, Harrison Gray Otis, 1791; from Jane P. Hubbard (the second wife of John Hubbard), to her cousin, Sarah Black, 1816-1821; from Anna Maria Parkinson, the mother of Jane Hubbard, to her own mother Jane Rice, her sister Mary Black, and her cousin, Sally Black, 1794-1802; and correspondence received by Adelaide McCulloh, later Hubbard, 1845. Correspondence recounts business transactions between the family plantation in Guyana and Boston regarding ownership and trading of slaves, crops such as coffee and sugar, and contains inquiries about family members. Also includes family documents such as wills, a deed for land sold by Nathaniel Greene (1784), and an appraisal of property owned by John Hubbard (1804).
